The Learning Lathe Wood Turning Class is a fun way to try out a wood lathe and make your first bowl with personal instruction. Completing this session is not alone enough to certify you for solo lathe use at F2, but you will almost certainly leave with a beautiful bowl of your own making. You will try out typical tools, accessories and techniques of the craft. A further skill building class will build on your experience here and lead to certification to use the lathes "solo".
Screen Printing: Hands-On Workshop Unleash your creativity and master the fundamentals of screen printing in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop. You will be guided step-by-step through the entire practical process, leaving with the skills to turn your designs into custom apparel. What You'll Learn: Artwork Preparation: How to properly prep and print design transparencies. Screen Prep: Coating screens with light-sensitive emulsion. Image Exposure: Burning your design onto the screen using precision lighting. Printing & Curing: Hands-on experience printing a single-color graphic onto a garment. What's Included: All tools, ink, and emulsion are provided, along with a t-shirt to print your custom design on and take home! What to Bring: Please wear old clothes or an apron that you don't mind getting dirty—screen printing can get messy!

Come practice your bandsaw skills in this Level Two woodshop class- perfect for makers ready to move beyond basic cuts into creative, functional projects. Create a unique and functional one-drawer bandsaw box. You'll practice safe bandsaw techniques for cutting organic shapes, resawing, and precise interior cuts. Then assemble, sand, and finish a functional keepsake box with a smooth fitting drawer. This beginner-friendly project aims to build confidence on the bandsaw and in the woodshop while producing a beautiful piece for you to take home and show off to friends and family! All wood, PPE, and finishing supplies will be provided! Bring your own apron if desired. Woodshop safety checkout is required prior to taking this class. Some experience is helpful, but not necessary!

Come learn your next blacksmithing skill set. One of the most important parts of the craft is being able to make your own tools. In this course, we'll be taking some of your Intro skills and building upon them by making a hot punch. We'll learn more advanced shaping, grinding, tempering, and annealing. As always: •Please wear cotton clothing or a majority cotton blend. •Please show up in close toed shoes. Crocks do not count. •Blacksmithing takes time. Be sure to have made about a three hour block for this class.
Many traditional turners prefer working with green wood. Come take a trip to the green side in this level-two lathe workshop at Factory Two. You’ve started learning the lathe- but the ultimate question hits: where do you get the wood? In this workshop we’ll go all the way from tree to treen. Start quite literally with a log and leave with a finished (or nearly finished) bowl plus an extra sealed blank you can come back on your own and turn later at Factory Two. What you’ll learn: • Safely select, section, and cut turning blanks from a log • Properly seal green wood to prevent cracking and checking as it dries • Turn and finish (or nearly finish) options for green wood • Factory Two etiquette and rules for working with green wood in the shop Green wood turns beautifully, throws long, curling ribbons, and responds differently than fully dried and cured stock. You’ll experience those differences firsthand while practicing the fundamental bowl-turning techniques: roughing, shaping the exterior, hollowing the interior, and finishing options for your piece. This is a practical, start-to-finish workshop you can apply to found or harvested wood. All tools and materials are provided. Who it’s for: Students with at least some lathe experience (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore green wood. Due to pending updates to the lathe checkout process, you do not need to be checked out on the lathe, but you should have taken at least one previous lathe class and/or have some woodturning experience. Because of the length of the class, feel free to bring a lunch or snack.
