The end of the season doesn't end the garden's life; however, it is time to prepare it for winter. Cold hardy plants will be covered with row covers and gardeners are welcome to come and harvest, probably through December. We will be setting up the row covers and mulching beds with biomass and doing our last turning of the compost.

Field trip: UM-Flint Education Department, Dr. Katherine Eaton's IES 462 class, 21 preservice teachers. Tour, t-shirts, and a conversation about future school projects. The space is booked for a private group. No public registration.

Kids 12-18 can join us from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM to create their own string art. A healthy snack will be provided, and they'll take their project home with them.

Kids ages 8-12 can join us to create their own string art. Lunch will be provided and they will bring their projects home with them. They are welcome to wear costumes, but they shouldn't inhibit vision, hand/arm movement or their ability to use a hammer and manipulate string.

This is probably the most important session we will have. We will review the season and discuss what worked well and what didn't work well. How to improve for next season and what our goals will be. We will discuss what we will grow so that seeds and plants can be ordered. We will also put together a "Wish List" for what we'd like to invest in for the next season.

Kids 12-18 will use acrylic paint to create their own designs or stencil designs on pillar candles, which will come home with them at the end of the session. A nutritional snack is provided, and we try to include a short nature walk during the session, weather permitting.

Kids 8-12 will build paper plate race tracks and race marbles on their tracks. Surviving tracks will be sent home with their creator. Lunch is provided and we'll take a brief nature walk, time and weather permitting
