WDZZ 92.7 and Everybody Needs Love to Host 14th Annual Back 2 School Rally in Downtown Flint
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE– FLINT, MI — August 4, 2026– WDZZ 92.7 and Everybody Needs Love will host the 14th Annual Back 2 School Rally on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Flint. The free community event will take place on Second Street and Buckham Alley, between Beach Street and Saginaw Street. Families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of school-year preparation, entertainment and connection in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
Students attending the rally will receive free backpacks, books and school supplies while supplies last, and the first 100 K–12 students will receive free tablets. The event will also feature a free service experience, with participants able to select one basic service: a haircut, manicure or hairstyle. Additional activities will include bounce houses, games, community vendors, family resources and free food from four participating food trucks. Genesee Health System will also provide education about the health risks of vaping and the importance of remaining vape-free. For Event Coordinator Tiana Harrington, the annual rally is about making sure children and families begin the school year feeling supported, prepared and valued.
“This event is important to me because every child deserves to walk into the new school year feeling confident, excited and ready to learn,” Harrington said. “Providing a backpack, a fresh haircut or a fun afternoon may seem simple, but those gestures can mean so much to a young person and their family. Our name, Everybody Needs Love, reflects what we believe: everyone deserves to be seen, encouraged and surrounded by a community that cares. This rally is one of the ways we put that love into action right here in Flint.”
Now in its 14th year, the Back 2 School Rally brings together local organizations, businesses, volunteers and residents to help ease some of the financial pressures families may experience while preparing for the academic year. The event is presented by WDZZ 92.7 and Everybody Needs Love, with support from Genesee Health System and other community partners.School supplies and hair care services will be available while supplies and appointment capacity last.
